I wanted to make a few opal rings with spectacular opals but simple settings, for both accessibility and to make the opal the only star of the show. This is one of them, featuring a large 9 carat opal. The colors is this beauty are gorgeous, and it’s one of those opals that’s always flashy, vs the flash showing up with light hitting it. It’s a mix, so half of the flash is unmoving, and half is swirling around based on how you tilt the stone. It’s a unique flash pattern that I’m not really sure how to describe, but I think the photos show it well. Like all opals, the light source and color temperature changes the colors of the opal as well - so many possibilities ✨
